Dr Sofia Protopapa

CMHC, CSP, GCDF

Dr. Sofia Protopapa is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She holds certifications in trauma therapy (Trauma Research Foundation under the supervision of Bessel van der Kolk, TACT Hellas, Evergreen Certifications) and Mindfulness (ISON Psychometrica). She is a member of the Greek and European Counseling Association. She is a supervisor of mental health professionals and a Career Counselor certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. She works at the American College of Greece, where she teaches in the School of Psychology, trains students in career counseling, and supervises students in the MS program in Counseling and Psychotherapy. She is also the coordinator of the undergraduate and graduate internship program in psychology. In 2024, she implemented a five-month training program on people pleasing with the participation of 180 schoolteachers in a private school in Athens, Greece. She conducts individual and group sessions on managing social anxiety and public speaking anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, cultivating healthy self-esteem, developing assertive behavior and healthy boundaries, strengthening the authentic self, and managing stress. She counsels adolescents on issues such as choosing a course of study and career, time management and organization, focusing attention, and managing test anxiety. She has taught in multiple mental health programs through EAP providers, has developed educational materials and manuals, and has authored or co-authored the following books:

  • Leadership for Children: A guide for parents, teachers and coaches, Psychogios, 2019.
  • Eudaimonia as a way of life: A conversation with Aristotle inspired by the Nicomachean Ethics, Self publication, 2016.

Angeliki Chougia

Μ.Α., CSP, GCDF

Angeliki Chougia is a Psychologist and Family Therapist. She completed her undergraduate studies in Greece and pursued postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom in Counselling Psychology (Keele University) and in Marital and Family Therapy (Birkbeck College, University of London).

She is a certified Global Career Development Facilitator Trainer and Certified Supervisor Program Trainer by the National Board for Certified Counselors–International (NBCC-I).

She maintains a private practice since 1992 and served for approximately fifteen years as Director of the ‘’Counselling Training Centre’’, following an integrative approach. Since 1995, she is a permanent collaborator with the non-profit organization Vocational Guidance & Educational Consultants – Career Associates.

She is a founding member of the Hellenic Association for Counselling (1994), where she has served as Secretary and Vice President. She holds the European Certificate in Counselling and is licensed by the Greek state to practice as a Psychologist.

She has extensive teaching experience in seminars and training programs in the fields of Counselling, Mental Health, Supervision, and Career Counselling. Since 2009, she is the Deputy Director of NBCC–Greece (www.nbcc.gr).

The program is enriched by the participation of other mental health specialists.
